Some updates:
I finished modeling and texturing Toothless the Dragon. I even gave myself a pat on the back! (literally) I won't say that he's 100% done, because I have to go back and fix his normal map, but I think where he's at right now is not too shabby at all. I think I accomplished my goal of making him look authentic. Right now I only put up two basic renders of him in the 3D Modeling section. As soon as Barak gets a chance to give him a poseable skeleton, I'll be taking more renders to really show him off. Cant wait (HURRY UP BARAK... haha i kid).
I'm almost done with modeling my fantasy Alice-In-Wonderland-ish female character. All that's left is refining some details, and then on to UV-ing. It's coming along pretty nicely, and I hope I can get that final rendered image I have in my head when it's all said and done. Hopefully it'll be a big piece in my demo reel. She definitely looks like more of a harder model than the Evil Queen character I did. Once I get into doing all the details in the clothing and makeup, etc., I think it's going to be something people will look at and think "Wow...this guy thought of everything...". B-) Cool Kid face.
I'm going to start making arbitrary base meshes in a few weeks, so I can cut my modeling time down considerably. I plan on making a human male, female, and busts of each gender. I'll probably start with making the male bust though, as my next project is making a replica-head bust of Jason Statham (haha). Why I chose him? Who knows, but he seems like a really good prototype for a male video game character. Should be good practice getting down working with faces in ZBrush.
FIEA is right around the corner, just a month or so away. I'm pretty excited to be back in the grind once again. I'm glad that I took enough time this summer to really practice some difficult modeling and get myself out of my comfort zone. One thing I guess I didn't do yet was practice in 3DS Max. I'm going to push myself to do the Statham model with it and finally have a solid Max model under my belt. Been spoiled with Maya (or for other modelers, is it the other way around usually?)
Haven't done a lot of painting this summer...Only did maybe 1-2 sketches. I need to revamp, maybe I'll do some later tonight.
