Was planning on updating at the end of winter break. Looks like I came through on that one! ::thumbs up
Well, the past 2 months have been.....yikes. Quite an accomplishment getting the game I'm working on at FIEA, titled Nexus, to look good for the cut-round presentation at the end of February. It was a pretty demanding and taxing task on my mind and body, and I cant say I'd exactly do it all over again, but regardless, I pulled through, and we made a pretty sweet-looking first level.
Here's a video (below) to what we showed on presentation day. I'm pretty sure I don't have to say it, but yes, most of it is VERY work in progress, not to mention most of the level was scrapped thereafter and will be replaced with an actual story/event driven pacing, especially without the fact that you have all of your superpowers in this demo, which wouldn't be the case in the final game.
If you cant really see anything because of the lighting, don't worry, neither can I. It shall be fixed in due time.
I have to say, working on this game has been an absolute blast so far. I'm working with extremely dedicated and creative people who aren't just treating this as an educational thesis. It's like we really are an indie developer company that's just trying to make it big (and using school resources to do it, haha) and enjoy every minute of learning the entire process. The freedom that we're granted on this game is incredible: with UDK I have so many tools available. I feel glad knowing I'm on a team of individuals that are never content with what we have: we're always trying to overcome our own obstacles and push our cielings even higher
Well, enough patting myself on the back, haha. Enjoy the vid, feel free to comment on it or give any feedback!
